Terms of use
As of 12 October 2026
1. Provider
Veritas is provided by Jeremiah Schiebel (CIDIX), Hammstraße 30, 52222 Stolberg (Rhld.), Germany, e-mail contact@cidix.dev. Full details are in the legal notice.
2. What Veritas is
Veritas is an app for reading news from sources you choose. It groups reports into stories and shows articles in a reading view. With Premium it can check an article’s claims against independent sources, compare coverage, summarise, answer questions and write a daily briefing.
The checks, comparisons, summaries, answers and briefings are produced with a language model and web search. They are an aid to your own judgement, not a statement of fact by us. A check depends on what a search finds at that moment; it can be incomplete or wrong, and “not verified” means only that no independent source could be attached. Veritas does not replace reading the sources.
3. Free use and Premium
Following sources, stories, the reader, saving and search are free of charge. The AI features are part of Premium.
Premium is a subscription bought in the app through the App Store or Google Play. The app shows the price and the billing period before you buy. The subscription renews automatically for the same period at the price shown until you cancel it. You cancel in your store account; Premium then remains until the end of the period already paid for.
The purchase, payment, refunds and any statutory right of withdrawal are handled by Apple or Google under their terms. For iOS, Apple’s standard licence agreement applies in addition.
4. Fair use
Premium includes an allowance of AI requests per day and per month, so that the service stays available to everyone. The app shows the allowance and how much of it is used under Premium. The allowance may be adjusted; a reduction that matters applies from your next billing period.
The server is for the Veritas app. Using it by other means, automating requests, or passing your access on to others is not permitted.
5. Publishers’ content
Articles, headlines and images belong to their publishers. Veritas fetches them at your request, from sources you chose, for your personal reading. Some publishers do not allow this or put articles behind a paywall; such articles are then available only on the publisher’s site.
6. Availability
We work to keep Veritas available, but cannot promise that it always is. The AI features depend on services of third parties and on the sources’ own websites and may be interrupted or changed.
7. Liability
We are liable without limit for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and under the German Product Liability Act. For slight negligence we are liable only for the breach of an obligation that is essential to the contract, and then limited to the damage that was foreseeable and typical. Otherwise liability is excluded.
8. Changes
We may change these terms when the service changes or the law requires it. The app or this page will say so before a change takes effect. If you do not agree, you can cancel the subscription.
9. Law and disputes
German law applies. If you are a consumer, the mandatory consumer protection rules of the country you live in remain in force. We do not take part in dispute resolution before a consumer arbitration board.
